Maxwell has returned with a politically-charged balled ‘We Never Saw It Coming’. The record reflects on how the world has changed in the last few years, really switching things up for Maxwell. As ever you can hear his powerful voice push through on the delicate, sombre and expertly-crafted piano ballad.

This is his first release since his 2016 album, ‘blackSUMMERS’night’. Since then Maxwell has been touring and letting fans know his next album, ‘blacksummers’NIGHT’ is coming soon.

Miguel has contributed to the Superfly movie soundtrack in a big way with his single ‘R.A.N’. Produced by Nowels and himself, the piano-laden ballad is about spit game to a love interest.

The soundtrack for the film was curated by American rapper Future and features thirteen new and previously released songs, as well as guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Khalid, Ty Dolla Sign, Young Thug, PartyNextDoor, H.E.R. among others.

Sammie stays switching up his music and he just dropped a remix to ‘Tempo’ originally released by Chris Brown on his 2017 album, ‘Heartbreak On A Full Moon. The remix stays true to the original chorus but Sammie changes things up on the verses. The R&B jam complements Sammie’s style of music. It’s a wicked record, which I  believe will be a summer jam.

I’m a huge fan of this LA band who seem to push the boundaries without alienating an audience who need that good groove in their life.

They are due an album after 2015s excellent ‘Ego Death’ and if this killer Kaytranada produced club banger is anything to go by, it should be a beautiful thing!

Enjoy

Grammy-nominated Soul singer, Leon Bridges has just dropped his highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Good Thing’. The 10-track album features the singles ‘Bad Bad News’, ‘Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand’ and ‘Beyond’. It’s a contemporary soul/R&B album, however, he has Jazz/Funk driven tracks such as ‘Bad Bad News’. Leon Bridges rose to notoriety in 2015 when he released his first album, ‘Coming Home’, the album channelled early ’60s R&B which caught the attention of many. Bridges sweet soul music is bringing a new flavour to R&B and this new album is cementing his path within the industry.

I’ve always been a massive fan of this lady so was extremely happy when I heard her announce she’d be dropping an album in the fall called ‘Passion Like Fire’ also quoted in this Salaam Remi produced / Co written gem.

Salaam is a production giant developing hits for the Fugees, Amy Winehouse, Nas and Miguel and he’s locked in his familiar hip hop soul stamp on this beauty of a record.

This will be the former Quincy Jones’ protégé’s 7th studio album coming via (e)one (entertainment one) and I’m hoping the rest of the album has input from Salaam because Tamia sits beautifully in this lane.

Enjoy this piece of audio niceness

Known for his R&B flavour, Ne-Yo has just dipped his toe into the pop/ dancehall sound. His new single ‘Push Back’, explores a different side to Ne-Yo which I didn’t see coming, especially compared to his last record ‘Good Man’. ‘Push Back’ isn’t R&B but there is still something about it that has me hooked, featuring pop star, Bebe Rexha and UK rapper, Stefflon Don the single could very well be the perfect summer jam.

The single will feature on Ne-Yo’s upcoming album, ‘Good Man’ set for release June 8. The album will feature 2Chainz, PartyNextDoor, Ty Dolla $ign and others.

British singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer, Angel has just dropped his new single ‘Woman’. This is a remarkable and beautifully done track that once you hear it, speaks to your soul. The sweet gem is all about celebrating women and expressing his love. It seems as though he is taking his music back to the 90s R&B theme when it was all about evoking feelings of love, lust and romance.

It’s really exciting to see a UK R&B artist doing their thing in the R&B industry. Angel has been around for a minute and he keeps getting better and better.
