RnB fans will remember the days of killer tracks from Tank in the early 2000’s like ‘Better Man‘ and ‘Maybe I Deserve‘, more recently we’ve seen him make up one third of group TGT alongside Tyrese and Ginuwine. He expressed frustrations via social media last year about the lack of support for RnB from fans and the industry and announced he would no longer be making music of the genre. Luckily he has had a change of heart and is storming back with conviction on his 8th studio album, ‘Sex Love & Pain II‘.

Sex, Love & Pain II is a solid RnB album, with collaborations from Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), Chris Brown and Wale, there’s a nice blend of up tempo tracks as well as smooth slow jamz with Tank’s vocals sounding better than ever. There are a couple of weak moments on the album with, ‘She Wit The s***’ and ‘F***** With Me‘ but they are few and Tank proves his relevancy on distinctive, modern cuts like, ‘I Love Ya‘ and ‘#BDay‘ as well as delivering those ballads we know and love him for, ‘Already In Love‘ and ‘Him Her Them‘.

With this album Tank proves that RnB it still strong and that he is here to stay.

RnB newcomer Tory Lanez has been creating a solid buzz about his music since his infamous tribute song to Teyana Taylor in early 2014 and his subsequent acclaimed mixtape releases over the past 2 years.

He has just dropped 2 new mixtapes which are available for free download, ‘The New Toronto‘ and ‘Chixtape 3‘. ‘The New Toronto‘ is more of a rap project and not really where this artist’s strength lies, whilst ‘Chixtape 3‘ contains some really decent RnB tracks, many that sample from or rework 90’s RnB classics from the likes of Usher and Jagged Edge with flawless production from Play Picasso.

Check ‘You Got it Worse‘, which borrows from the Usher classic ‘You Got It Bad’ featured on Chixtape 3 below and download the new mixtapes here

In case there was any doubt – Janet Jackson sends us a reminder today that she is back in a BIG way!! After announcing the title of her new album, ‘Unbreakable‘ (set for release 2nd October) a couple of months ago, she has embarked on her world tour and brought us tracks ‘No Sleeeep‘ and ‘Unbreakable‘.

The third single from the forthcoming new album, ‘Burn It Up‘ hears Janet on more of a dance vibe, teaming up with Missy Elliott and with a Naughty Boy remix of the track already in the pipeline. Whilst the more soulful fans will no doubt prefer ‘No Sleeeep‘ to this, the track is undeniably infectious and proof of Miss Jackson’s versatility, plus it feels so good to hear Missy killing it on a new track!!

Check ‘Burn It Up‘ below and buy it on Itunes here.

The powerhouse that is Phonte and Nicolay aka The Foreign Exchange are back with a new album entitled, ‘Tales From The Land Of Milk And Honey‘ set for release on August 21st. This new project sees soul singer Carmen Rogers joining the group as well as long term collaborator Zo! and vocalist Tamisha Waden.

Arguably their most eclectic album to date, ‘Tales‘ explores throwback sounds, stepper vibes and even dips into some house on, ‘Asking For a Friend‘. This is not the typical sound we are used to from FE, but it is a nod to the ever evolving genre of RnB and proves that they can maintain relevancy over their 10 year career.

Moments of brilliance come from, ‘Body‘ and ‘As Fast As You Can‘ with vocals from Carmen and Phonte complimenting each other beautifully and ‘Face In the Reflection‘ shines lyrically, reminding us that these guys really can do it all!
