Multi talented, Grammy award winning producer and musician Robert Glasper has just announced a new album entitled, ‘Everything’s Beautiful‘ an 11 track project of reworks and reinterpretations of classics from Miles Davis.

The album features collaborations with Illa J, Erykah Badu, Laura Mvula, Stevie Wonder, Ledisi, Phonte, King and more and is set for release on 27th May. ‘Everything’s Beautiful‘ is the second Miles Davis project Glasper has undertaken, he also produced the soundtrack to the forthcoming biopic ‘Miles Ahead‘ which stars Don Cheadle set to drop on April 1st.

Glasper explains that he feels ‘Everything’s Beautiful‘ explores the kind of music that Davis might have be making if he were alive today and reflects the kind of artist collaborations he would likely have chosen. Two years ago I interviewed Eric Roberson for a soul magazine when he gave me the insanely exciting news that he and long term collaborator Phonte (Foreign Exchange, Little Brother) were heading to the studio together to record a collaboration album!

Whilst we have all been patiently waiting, hoping it wasn’t an empty promise, it seems that Erro and Phonte HAVE been in the studio and the album is set for release on the 22nd of July on Erro’s own label, Blue Erro Soul.

No title has been announced yet but we’ll keep you posted of any more info and hopefully some tour dates!

The powerhouse that is Phonte and Nicolay aka The Foreign Exchange are back with a new album entitled, ‘Tales From The Land Of Milk And Honey‘ set for release on August 21st. This new project sees soul singer Carmen Rogers joining the group as well as long term collaborator Zo! and vocalist Tamisha Waden.

Arguably their most eclectic album to date, ‘Tales‘ explores throwback sounds, stepper vibes and even dips into some house on, ‘Asking For a Friend‘. This is not the typical sound we are used to from FE, but it is a nod to the ever evolving genre of RnB and proves that they can maintain relevancy over their 10 year career.

Moments of brilliance come from, ‘Body‘ and ‘As Fast As You Can‘ with vocals from Carmen and Phonte complimenting each other beautifully and ‘Face In the Reflection‘ shines lyrically, reminding us that these guys really can do it all!

Most of us RnB fans love to debate who’s the best in the game, who’s had the most seminal album and who has been most influential in the scene! In light of the recent Jodeci comeback Phonte (of Foreign Exchange / Little Brother) joins podcast crew ‘The Music Snobs,‘ to debate all of the above and in particular, Jodeci’s impact on the landscape of RnB.

Phonte and The Music Snob’s all seriously know their stuff when it comes to RnB! They talk about how they feel Jodeci switched it up with Phonte claiming that they made, ‘RnB acceptable for men’, they discuss the genius production skills of DeVante and Al B Sure and ask the all important question, is the Jodeci comeback a good idea?

But these music gurus don’t just discuss Jodeci, they go on to talk about the greatest one hit wonders of all time and share stories behind their music memories. Phonte is hilarious and full of passion as always and I would challenge any RnB fan not to be laughing and wanting to join the debate after the first couple of minutes!

Clink the link below to enjoy and leave your comments on Jodeci’s impact, whether or not they should have returned and who is the all time greatest RnB one hit wonder!!

Hey Soulquarians,
Here’s a slice of super soul from one of my favourite modern day artists Erro aka Eric Roberson
‘Picture Perfect’ features Phonte from Foreign Exchange which is the kinda collaboration that can only produce the realness in undiluted soul. So with that said, enjoy and make sure you leave ya comments
