Over the years tracks like Alien Ant Farm’s Smooth Criminal and Rihanna’s Don’t Stop The Music (I’m so angry) have made me extra protective over MJ’s music, but from time to time you have to make allowances and, for me, this is one of them.

As a Michael fan, I’m not big on people over doing the Jacko thing *cough Ne-Yo cough* but the album’s got a few tunes and he did well. Throwing chairs out of windows aside, it’s been a sick comeback.

When I heard Flying High I was like “Allow!”, when I heard Champion I thought “Yo!”, when I heard In The Air I felt disapointment like the parent of a kid that got Level 2’s in his SAT’s even though he revised. So by this point, I had doubts about the album (yh you’ve got collabs but are you gonna sell doe?). But after hearing this, the Trey tune, I’m not going to lie, I’m slyly impressed.

Whatever you have to say about Chipmunk, the A&Ring on this album is delicious! This American quality, Timbaland styled production from none over than H-Money (one of the British additions to the Darkchild camp and the man behind hits like ‘Champion’ and ‘Look For Me’), should allow Chip Diddy Chip to reach the balance between being commercial and credible. Well, as long as he stays away from Moment 4 Life Freestyles and tunes like Game Over.

As much as it hurts me to give props to Sony, I’ll have to rate them if they pull this off.

This weeks Music Monday by RnB vocal group Legaci, features Bluey Robinson who have covered Boyz II Men, End Of The Road. The jam session was shot in Milan, Italy.

Legaci are currently working as the background vocalists on the Justin Bieber My World International Tour, where Bluey has been one of the opening acts along with Willow Smith.

I love me some vocal harmony. Enjoy! Mx

Check out this video of UK Soul singer Jordan Saflor recording an acoustic version of his song ‘Lay You Down’ in the studio. Loving his soulful voice and having checked him out at one of his live sets recently, he’s definitely someone I’m looking forward to hearing a lot more from. Hi it’s Anna from the 1Xtra Music Team. On Wednesday night I went to see Ed Sheeran and Louise Golbey performing at a secret gig in Camden. The venue was tiny, maybe holding about 50 people, with tables laid out where people were eating dinner. It was tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main road and the atmosphere was very intimate. It was quite a rare and special night, for two highly rated artists, one signed and one tipped for big things, to be performing to such a small crowd. I first saw Louise live in 2009 and immediately gravitated to her unique blend of British soul, and Ronnie Herel has been a big supporter and I’ve been hearing her a lot on his show. I have also been really impressed with her music videos, especially for an unsigned artist. This week Louise made her debut on 1Xtra day time, being played on Trevor Nelson’s show and it was nice to celebrate all her successes over a glass of champers on the night. Louise performed about seven soulful songs, including the smooth ‘Mr Potential’ and fan favourite ‘Sparkle’. Here’s a video (which I filmed on my phone so excuse the quality- I didn’t know about the gig until the day which is why I didn’t come more prepared!)

Ed Sheeran was also incredible, and it’s not hard to see why he’s captured the admiration of not only fans and industry bods, but has become an unlikely star on the UK grime scene. The 20-year-old guitar playing ginger-haired acoustic folk singer first came to the public attention through a performance he did on SBTV, and has since signed to Atlantic Records and was one of 1Xtra’s Hot 4 2011’s. Ed clearly puts a lot of emotion and soul into his music, which is evident not only in his lyrics but also his heartfelt performances. He played several new tracks that had not been performed before, including a poignant song about a lost unborn baby, where he sings of a “small bump”, which he explained to the audience that this was one of his most personal songs. He also performed some of his better-known material such as ‘A Team’ and ‘You Need Me’, which he left until the end and even incorporated a new bit which he’d recently added to the track.  Here are some videos (again not the best quality- gutted)

Its not exactly new but its worthy of blogging anyway, here’s the visuals for J Cole and Drakes ladies favourite banger ‘In The Morning’. It dropped on Valentines Day (well, the day after..) and was shot whilst on tour in Paris, featuring a cameo from Norwegian model & singer, Alexandra Joner.

Some expected more, but as far as I’m concerned J Cole could have shot it in his bathroom and I would have been happy!

The visuals are directed by the one and only Hype Williams and will induce epileptic fits, even to those without the condition. It should SERIOUSLY carry a warning! Hype is behind some epic videos, such as The Notorious B.I.G. – One More Chance, Busta Rhymes – Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See and Kelis – Caught Out There.

The video  has cameos from Rihanna and Kid Cudi, doesn’t feature Fergies MIA inspired verse but includes vocals from Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Tony Williams, Alicia Keys, La Roux, The Dream, Ryan Leslie, Alvin Fields and Ken Lewis.
